This lasted longer than the alcohol prohibition in the U.S., because black market golf was a lot easier to root out.

One time I saw a coin being tossed with a 52% chance of what it came up before. You know if you use a two headed quarter, that’ll really improve the odds of it coming up the same way twice.

One time I saw golf get banned for 51 years.

Did they take into account presidents of foreign countries when they said Ford served the least amount of time in office?

Take care and may God bless.

“About a 51% chance.” Give or take 2%.

I’d love to see Julia Child’s kitchen, but I hate the thought of being quarantined all over again.

It is a massive waste of Land and Water just to entertain a few very wealthy folks.

Don’t you love how people spend all this money to go be upset, stomp around and curse, and break their clubs all in the name of fun?

James II’s Act of Parliament of 6 March 1457 banned golf and football. The Act is the earliest known written evidence for the game in Scotland. With a weak monarchy, powerful nobles and a constant threat of invasion, military training was compulsory for all males over 12. However, instead of practising archery, ordinary people preferred to spend their leisure time playing golf and football. Dangerous and a nuisance, People often played in enclosed public spaces, such as streets and churchyards. This was considered dangerous and a nuisance, as well as ‘unprofitable’. Golf and football were so widespread and popular that Parliament considered them a problem serious enough for legislation. The 1457 ban was repeated in 1471 and 1491, so it could not have been entirely successful. https://digital.nls.uk/golf-in-scotland/banned/1457-act.html

I was a Bellman at the Hyatt House in Richmond back in the mid 70’s. I checked in Julia Child and some guy that was with her. It was cold, and both of them wore heavy coats. As I walked behind her, I thought, “This is one of the biggest women I have ever seen.” She looked like Andre the Giant when he wore the shroud in the movie Princess Bride.

If the coin is caught which side is up, palm up side if caught palm up, palm down side if caught palm down? And what about sideways catches?

The coin article reminds me of a Batman/Two-face story where Batman and Robin were tied to a giant version of T-F’s 2-headed coin and were going to be flipped with the coin; unfortunately the duo’s weight made it so the coin would fall with the heroes at the bottom side and the floor was studded with tall spikes.

It was those crazy English tattle tales. You know, the ones who banned fingernail and toenail clippers.

RBION states if a coin is “tossed and caught” it has about a 51% chance of landing on the same side. Nothing said about flipping the coin.

I can toss and catch a coin and have it land on the same side almost 100% of the time.

If you practice and turn the coin over onto your other hand its a sucker-bet…Too easy to do….Actually felt guilty doing that…
