Joe could easily manage the high-speed rail project and get it back on (ahem) track!

Joe B’s talking about infrastructure which I think is smart: We’re going to want some sort of jobs program. High speed rail is also a fine idea, in principle, but we should probably hire some German or Japanese folks with the know-how instead of trying to roll (pun unintended) our own.

Maybe tomorrow you can tell us about the Governor of Oklahoma . . .O.K.How did he get Covid-19 ? Hear anything from Chuck Woolery lately? What’s the latest Rose Garden news from the President on the pandemic increasing? Pushing to reopen the schools no matter if kids could die ? Current events would be good.

We truly need more public transportation (high-speed trains) and more flow control, not more highways. The Republicans don’t want the public to have affordable housing, affordable transportation to take them to work, or generally, a standard of living that is anything like that of the wealthy.

Biden used to take the train between DC and his home. He is a fan of public transportation. Why people in CA would rather complain of traffic than using the train, is beyond me.

Yeah, heaven forbid we should develop something that every other advanced country in the world already has had for decades.

Here’s an example of private, profit driven business vs state gov’t. In yesterdays Chicago Tribune, there was a story about Southwest airlines. Travel has gone down considerably, so they are preparing to make major changes, to reflect the current travel environment. Sadly, some people will be let go, but it’s for the betterment of the co. overall. Meanwhile a story about Illinois credit rating is just above junk status, we have the 2nd highest real estate taxes, etc etc, yet nothing ever changes. Gov’t, at both the state and national level needs to be more like profit driven companies. NO MORE DEBT.

CA’s high speed rail project has been a mess. Even Gov. Gruesome had to agree and threw in the towel on the entire project other than a stretch between Bakersfield and Merced due to massive cost overruns. They sold this project to the citizens based on bogus numbers and an unachievable timeline. In other words, they lied. Why anyone trusts numbers from the government for these kind of things is beyond me. They are always wrong.

Meanwhile, according to Forbes, Trump’s golf trips have cost around $350 MILLION. How about that, taxpayers :https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjones/2019/07/10/trumps-golf-trips-could-cost-taxpayers-over-340-million/#6f3107f928aa

A junket to France for all congress people, their staff and the White House “advisors” to ride several different itineraries on the TGV – fast, very fast, comfortable and on time. Also check out the rail service in Italy and Spain. Some attitudes might change.

When you spend 4 years sabotaging technological and scientific developments by any state one labels “Democratic enemy of the people”, it makes sense how one goes bankrupt multiple times as a businessman.

I don’t live in CA but I pay shockingly high income taxes there. Believe me, if I could move my family ranch out of that state, I’d do it in a minute. As TJ Rodgers said about moving his factories, ABC, baby, Anywhere But California.

Japan worked on a new bullet train to be in place for the 2020 Olympics; it can get to speeds over 200 MPH (360 KPH). Even though the Olympics have been pushed back to 2021, the train was put in service July 1st. Interesting coincidence – Japan put in the train line this will connect to in 1964, when they hosted the Olympics. The train is designed to withstand earthquakes.

It is disgusting that the U.S. cannot get things in place that would help the PEOPLE. Too many private contractors inflating costs, too many lawsuits, too much political noise.

Lisa, pretty much every industrialized nation in the ENTIRE world has high speed rail, with the shameful exception of ourselves. It is NOT beyond our grasp. It is something that we need, and something that we could achieve. The only thing holding us back is the weak, the cowardly and the ignorant.
