I can usually predict how this court will decide. What takes them so long is trying to find some legal, or other, justification for their decisions. A classic was “it’s old, so it must be ok”. The Christian cross on public land, maintained with tax money.
—) The U.S. Supreme Court Building is as luxurious inside and out as an ancient temple or a religious basilica. It could indeed be a casino in Las Vegas, such as “Caesar’s Palace,” but far less tacky. No expense was spared to provide working space for the Guardians of American Law.
“Equal Justice Under the Law” is inscribed over the West Facade. It’s a noble concept, but rather a gamble, depending on the skill of of high-stakes legal players. A more accurate motto is under review as the building undergoes heavy renovation.
The colonnade of the Facade seems to grin toothily at those who enter. It is where a culinary metaphor arises: the “dancing chefs,” their assistants, and plaintiff lawyers do their legal gavotte as they knead the law, let it rise, punch it down, and let it rise again.
The whole building takes form of a huge “Leg-Al-Matic” that slices and dices. The colonnade comprises initial blades that slice; within, cases are then diced by sharp legal minds. The Justices mix the ingredients in elaborate traditional procedures; then the dish put in the oven, later served. Although seldom suitable to all tastes, one does not argue with master chefs, who resent critical comments, and have access to large knives.
Trump’s and McConnell’s plan to remodel the Court is well underway. Their legal architects plan first to change the obsolete outside inscription to Latin: “Pecunia Obediunt Omnia.” (“All Things Yield to Money”)
Statues around and within the buildings are under review. Some might be modified, as values change over the decades. “Authority of Law” may be changed to honor Donald Trump, if the head is replaced with his image. The personage in that statue exhibits a scroll that could, with a few whacks of a chisel, show an Executive Order with the president’s scrawled signature upon it.
Many presidents have tried to modify the Court — but it seems Donald Trump and his groups may greatly succeed.
Once again it has been affirmed be the court that religious people have the right to piss on people because they say they believe in something. I think someone has to subpoena Jesus and get his ass in court in order to explain to EVERYBODY just what it was he said and why it’s necessary for our lives to be ruled by his words.
This Trump casino might stay solvent longer if his daddy were still alive. Like Henny Yougman who was told by his doctor he had cancer and only three months to live as he handed him the bill. Henny says I can’t pay that much in three months . . . . so the doctor says okay, you’ve got six months to live.
(No rim shot please with a ‘drum stick’ from KFC, it makes the ‘skins’ greasy . .like Trump)
Conservatives used to say that judges should not legislate from the bench… now they complain if judges don’t legislate from the bench – in a GOP-friendly partisan way…
One of the most consequential Supreme Court decision ever, Brown v. [Topeka] Board of Education (1954) was 9-0, and nobody could possibly contend that the issue was a no-brainer. Earl Warren (an Eisenhower appointee) never gets adequate credit for his administrative skills.
With baseball (possibly!) going to be played this summer, after all, Judge Roberts won’t be needed to call balls and strikes as much as he has recently been…….
It must be tough to be a political stooge without looking like a political stooge. Trump Taxes is the perfect example, concede the self evident (no man is above the law) while constitutionally defending the interests of the wealthy through due process (endlessly delayed).

Assessing the Supremes – {4 beats/line}
It’s never easy to savvy the courts,
the lawyers’ words and their artful retorts,
and to see what a judge’s ruling purports.
… But nowadays it’s REALLY obscure.
… What’s goin’ on? We’re rather unsure: -
- The current Supremes // have judges with themes
which go to extremes // with political schemes
to advance regimes // like Trump’s, it seems.
But it’s hard to see through the smoky haze
of legalese and the judiciary’s maze.

I’m rather pleased how the Dump appointees have stayed with the law and not become, like AG Barr, just another Dump judge.

This is more McConnell’s casino than Trump’s. Either way our country loses.

And if you don’t like the decision you can always throw more money and more lawyers at it and delay justice until the statute of limitations runs out.

He Makes No Bones About It – {3 beats/line}
This president makes no bones
‘bout cases like Roger Stone’s: -
- of justice he makes a farce
in order to cover his arse.
… Coda:
It’s a skill which he sharpens and hones,
with despotic overtones.
