I had an interesting evening. We were putting out the recycling and had some flattened boxes. I stepped on one and skied halfway down the driveway, sitting of course. I’m fine except my left big toe was bent under and now it’s a lovely shade of blue. It’s not broken, I think, but I won’t be dancing anytime soon. I’ll probably feel this tomorrow!
I forgot to mention, since I wrote that his card was coming from Las Vegas, we put in a $25 chip from the long gone Sahara. We thought he might get a kick out of that!
I have had juror duty several times (responding to Eldo’s thread yesterday). Once, The prosecutor was my cousin who I taught in Junior High and I thought surely I would be excused from the jury. Wrong. Once, the judge was a friend I served drinks to in a supper club I worked at to supplement my meager teacher pay (WV is 48th in the US). I was acceptable. One trial, the investigating cop left his digital camera that was provided to him for taking pictures of crime scenes, in the trunk of his cruiser. So all we jurors had as evidence was his word that a crime had even happened. We voted to acquit. He is now a lieutenant.
During my travels today whilst at work I drove down a road I haven’t been down for quite a few years. Approaching a bend I saw something in the road that made me think “That looks like a snake!”. Now I live in the UK in the County of Suffolk in East Anglia, and while we do have a native snake population (Adder, Grass Snake, and Smooth Snake), they are quite rare and I haven’t seen one in the wild for nearly twenty years, so I thought to myself “No, it can’t be a snake.” It was though, it was an Adder, an adult one about two feet in length, I’m very happy I saw it :-)
Ooh, baby. We’ve got your snakes here in Oklahoma. I try to let them go about their business, but not if they are on my back porch. (Cotton-mouth)(twice).
That dirty rat had better not harm Oliver! On another note, saw a rabbit and some sparrows while out walking today. (No rats, though.) I also saw a Wilson’s warbler outside.

Meanwhile, a group of cat ladies with bats yell, “We don’t think so” and save Oliver.

I don’t think that is Mickey Mouse!

Ooooooo! I’m on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next! I hope it’s Annie he heard and not some big rat as that shadow appears to be.

I’m so worried for little Oliver. Hope Annie comes to look for him.

Today is:
National Father/Daughter Take a Walk Day. My dad died in 1990. I wish I could take a walk with him, but he was never one for going for walks.
National Dive Bar Day. I don’t do bars but I would especially steer clear of “dives”.
National Macaroni Day
National Strawberry Sundae Day. Yum!
