Conservatives aren’t bothered by the true American ugliness as long as they can maintain their facade.

Rather than the “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” a more apt metaphor might be taken from “The Phantom of the Opera.” Racism is the mask many Americans wear without worry or remorse. Indeed, many aren’t even aware they’re wearing it. But recent events have torn it way exposing the monster beneath.

Oscar Wilde died long ago, but Dorian Gray, born 1890 will never die . . . a fictional character , but brings to mind the past and ever changing Administration

The two very young actresses in that movie were Donna Reed (24 and had been in the movies for about 5 years, including a Thin Man movie and an Andy Hardy before this one) and Angela Lansbury (20 and had been in Gaslight and National Velvet). I watched the Thin Man series last week and Gaslight Saturday night. Donna won an Oscar, Angela has been nominated for an Emmy 18 times with no wins and 6 or 7 Tony Awards. I saw her on stage with the national touring company production of “Mame.” And she has been invested with a DBE. She’s quite the Dame.
