Rebecca, it’s obvious you don’t understand that, because it’s not written in the U.S. constitution, people in the U.S. do not have to do something as simple as wearing a mask to protect fellow citizens in case you’re asymptomatic…./s. Geez.
In his Art of Rhetoric, Aristotle writes that it is “the part of a better man to make use of and abide by the unwritten rather than the written law” (Rhetoric, I. XV 153 Freese).
When I recently re-read that book, the section where Aristotle lists the ways to get away with a crime was shockingly similar to Trump’s ‘methods’. See Rhetoric, I. XI. 28-XII & XII 4-10 in the Freese translation:
“Men do wrong when they think that it can be done and that it can be done by them; when they think that their action will either be undiscovered, or if discovered will remain unpunished; or if it is punished, that the punishment will be less than the profit . . .”
“Those are likely to remain undetected . . . if the acts are done quite openly and in sight of all . . . if they are not guarded against, because no one would think them possible . . . if they are so great in nature that no one would even be likely to attempt them . . . [or done by those whom] even if they do not remain undetected, can get the trial set aside or put off, or corrupt the judges . . . "
The list goes on. Made me think that Trump might actually read, but I know that is foolish of me.

A colleague had a bumper sticker on his truck: “God is great, beer is good, people are crazy.” That about covers it.
