Chippy is upset that the history of oppression is being exposed, that he can no longer call people racists names, that people are no longer tolerating intolerance, and the rule of law will apply to everyone.

It seems to me the one tearing down free speech is the president. He has encouraged the police to arrest reporters (which they have without charge). He has encouraged violence against the press and has called the press the enemy of the people. He has attacked peaceful demonstrators exercising the First Amendment rights while inciting violence against them. He has called terrorists fine people and has called protester “low life’s.” Should we remove all Confederate statues? Absolutely! Not only are they signs of approval of (the most brutal and savage form of) slavery but also of rebellion. Should people topple them on their own? It would be more satisfying if the state did it, but the people have been known from time to time to do the right thing when the state refuses, so maybe it was necessary.
Hmmm. We have voter suppression, suppression of free speech and peaceful protests by militant law enforcement, undermining the election 5 months early by insisting any mail-in ballots will be voter fraud, calling armed minorities exercising their right to bear arms a “mob” or “terrorist”, men dictating what women can or cannot do with their bodies, demanding Christianity be taught in public schools, dictating that only light skinned immigrants should be allowed in the country, and insisting the history of pro-slavery and pro-oppression monuments be protected.Yep, the Right Wing Christian Taliban have indeed taken over.

“Well, one of the things that will be really great — you know, the word experience is still good. I always say talent is more important than experience, I’ve always said that. But the word experience is a very important word. It’s a very important meaning. I never did this before. I never slept over in Washington. I was in Washington, I think, 17 times, all of a sudden, I’m president of the United States. You know the story, I’m riding down Pennsylvania Avenue with our first lady and I say, this is great. But I didn’t know very many people in Washington. It wasn’t my thing. I was from Manhattan, from New York. Now, I know everybody and I have great people in the administration. You make some mistakes like, you know, an idiot like Bolton. All he wanted to do was drop bombs on everybody. You don’t have to drop bombs on everybody. You don’t have to kill people.”
There goes Bok with that false equivalence again. I guess the US should have left all those statues of Saddam standing in Iraq instead of tearing them down because of, y’know, history and heritage.
You know, all of those things are being actively destroyed by the Trump Administration. They banned some words like “climate change” from being used at the EPA, not to mention covering up information from the public. The Trump administration does not follow laws at all, as seen by them refusing congressional subpoenas. He actively revised history, by saying that he took the pandemic seriously all along, even though we have videos of him saying the it was going to go away in April. And he is intolerant of anyone who criticizes him, not to mention Muslims, LGBTQ+, and Latinos.
The protesters, on the other hand, are remembering history quite well, specifically the history of police brutality and oppression of African-Americans in the US. Their protests are, of course, free speech, and I have not seen them being especially violent against any counter-protesters. In fact, the violence that I have seen came initially from police who were trying to suppress the dissent. So, it is the Trump Administration after all that is more Taliban-like. And we DID turn over the country to them! So Chip Bok is correct yet again!

The only trashing of “free speech” that I’ve seen lately is Trump threatening to sue anyone who quotes him.

I like that picture of the Taliban next to the picture of the boogaloo bois, can’t tell them apart with their guns and religious fervor.
Compare the Taliban teachings with the Republican teachings, almost identical.
