I think some cable news hosts got started this way. Not convinced they all developed their act further.

Had a shar pei /ab, very protective of our houshold & esp our baby son, would sit and watch and watch him, when son began crawling dog would watch on one side of room just as baby was almost to him he would get up and cross to other side of room, he would watch but no touching.

“For Better or for Worse” is Canadian, and Jolly Jumper is a Canadian brand.

But I’m surprised Lynn reruns this, or still makes that comment…

Back then, in the early 90’s, jumpers were considered a good way to keep kids entertained and out from underfoot.

But not any more…. all baby jumpers and walkers have been banned in Canada since early in this century.

Pediatricians and chiropractors advise against them here, too…

They’re still available, but even the product instructions nowadays say not to use them for more than 15 or 20 minutes at a time, under supervision.

The soft fabric seats with leg holes can cause hip dysplasia, and by being stood upright too early, sometimes young babies like April develop spinal curvatures.

Their immature bodies need to get stronger lying on their tummies, and gradually learning to crawl, developing muscles to help their spines deal with gravity, till they can pull themselves upright.

Some of the newer models have wider, stiff seats, that they can actually sit on for a while.

but AFTER they’re crawling.

As a sometimes performing musician, I can vouch for that.

If Jolly Jumpers are illegal, no problem. Guns are illegal in Canada, but if you want one, you can get one. They are brought across the border thanks to our good friends, the Americans.

Will we have another week of baby drool/poop/barf/screams?

We bought one for our first grandkid and eventually all 12 loved it. We have since sent it to Tennesee for our two great-grandbabies.

Of course she performs for an audience. She’s hanging there with no stimulation until Farley shows up, so she shows her excitement at having him there paying attention to her. When he turns his back and leaves, she is disappointed and shows it.
