I’m reminded of the scene in “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” where he fixes a slipping handle bar with a shim made from a beer can. The owner got all huffy because his very expensive motorcycle was repaired with a piece of a cheap can.
I remember one Sharper Image catalog that offered a $28,000 kiddie car for eight year olds one year. This isn’t in that category, Corkie. Just bend the wheel . . .
On our way to pick up our RV (actually a Chevy Express van conversion) at the mechanic late night and drop off our car which was going in for a routine oil change, we noticed that the driver’s headlight was out on the car and wrote a note (and later left a voice mail) to fix that also. Husband went online to see what is involved in changing the headlight. First video he came across showed a man taking a quarter of the car apart and taking out a huge unit from the car and husband was seeing dollar signs. Then he kept looking and everyone else just pulled out the bulb and changed it. We will pick up the car tomorrow night and leave our regular van – it has to go in for state inspection. Would be nice if these days we drove someplace other than to our mechanic – have gone out to supermarket twice since mid March, pharmacy once, mail collection box 3 times (too large/heavy to leave in outgoing clip of our home box), once we stopped for gas in car, we have made at least 10 trips to the mechanic for vehicles basically just sitting here. We drop off/pick up late night leaving him the key in a slot and he leaves the keys and paid invoice (paid by credit card on the telephone) on the visor these days to be contactless.
