Argy, I am thinking it is something like the line in Liar, Liar where the judge tells the courtroom that the only reason he is allowing this case to continue is because he wants to see what is going to happen next. Lacy may just be interested to see what new outrage Jeremy is capable of.

IIRC her late husband was almost as big a flake as Jeremy. Maybe she kind of misses that. Kind of.

As forthright as Lacey could be, she could never bring herself to cut him off completely. Besides, Jeremy is clearly incapable of understanding the word “No”. So she accommodates him as much as she can bear.
