Out of curiosity – have you tried asking your reps (Congress and Senate) to cut Social Security, medicare, medicaid, and the military? How did they respond?
Repeal the 2017 tax cut. Raise the top tax rates back to what they were before trickle-down, aka “voodoo economics”, when income inequality was much smaller. Eliminate the “carried interest” loophole that hedge fund managers and execs use to pay lower taxes on their income by claiming it as interest. Lower the cap on inheritance taxes (there have been protections added for things like family farms). Stop spending so much money on military, e.g. missiles that cost $800,000 EACH and jets so technically complicated that they never really work properly.
I’d be more than willing to “defund” congress by paying them a living wage and making it a capital crime to accept donations of any kind whether direct or via a PAC that buys advertisement.
But there’s less chance of that than of the Orange Maroon doing something useful.
While we’re at it, make the Trumps (and their appointees) pay for their security details and bill them for use of military transportation on their golf and hunting trips. We should also figure out Trump’s hourly rate and bill him at that rate for the time he spends on the golf course and at his rallies.

Raise taxes on the rich (trickle down is a fallacy), cut military spending, outlaw pork barrel amendments, medicare for all (death panels already exist with the insurance companies), increase education and social safety net and do all the things that are hard.
