Bernice has the “deer caught in the headlights” look as she sees the atrocious mess that is Luann’s bathroom sink.

Luann sure looks rather PLAIN for a girl whose bathroom resembles an ULTA store.

Surely you weren’t expecting your own bathroom were you Bernice? You’re lucky your getting your own bedroom.

Luann is like 20 lesser humans.

12 to a bathroom = 2 to a room X 6 rooms. In my dormitory days, no one left their stuff in the group bathroom. Bernice may have actually had more space in the dormitory situation. Depending on how many showers she had in that communal bathroom, Bernice may have had a better chance of using a shower than she will get with Luann.

Back when the Gulag was being built for Leslie and Gunther the assumption was that there would an endless series of conflicts between the two. That mostly never happened. However it looks like the torture we expected from those two will be coming from Luann and Bernice. And since I have no love for torture, fictional or otherwise, I find myself longing for Shannon whose bossiness was funny and never intentionally mean.

Toothbrush and toothpaste take up the bathroom shelf. Everything else lives in a cosmetic bag that stays in the bedroom when not in use. Next question?

I went on a two week trip with my oldest and her husband. We all shared the same room. The first morning, I couldn’t get in the bathroom at all because both of them were using it. They stayed in there for at least an hour and a half. When they finally vacated the bathroom and I went in, they kept telling me to “hurry up”, even though I had only been in there five minutes. I don’t think they were trying to be mean on purpose. They were young, and just weren’t thinking. I solved the problem by keeping all my makeup, hairbrush and a big mirror in my suitcase. I’d get up before they did, brush my teeth and perform any activity I could do nowhere else but in a bathroom. When they got up, I’d give them the bathroom and go to my suitcase and mirror to put on my makeup and do my hair. It worked out well, I looked just as good as if I’d used the bathroom mirror, and we all got along fine the entire trip.

Bernice is so low maintenance, that one shelf might well be enough.

ya know i can be messy as well and i can be lazy when it comes to cleaning around the house but even my bathroom isn’t this messy in short Luann is a far bigger slob than i am.

Bern should be happy that Luann gave her a bathroom compare to what Bern did to Luann 20 months ago.

The important thing, lest anyone forgets, with so much easy hypercriticism here, is that Luann’s heart is in the right place.

The upside is, all the rodents and roaches in there wear makeup. Cool beans…

Yesterday, the haters condemned Luann for being too slow-witted to understand that Bernice was justifiably upset about the upheaval in her life. Frame 1 today should have shown that Luann does understand that Bernice is upset and does care. Bernice has been in Luann’s room and in her house a gazillion times, and this is the first time she’s seen the bathroom? I don’t think so.

I think you were better off sharing a bathroom with 12 people Bern, just saying.

Once again Luann shows that basically she has a good heart. She sometimes has trouble demonstrating that empathy in her behaviors. Maybe it’s from all those years of sibling conflict. 8^ )

There’s NO WAY Mama DeGroot would let that mess be.

Bernice. You are majoring in psychology, you have no life and spend your weekends on Luanns bedroom floor. How on Earth were you not aware of the mess that is Luann?? It’s the premise of the whole comic. Suck it up and remember, if Pru could do it so can you, and free rent.

Good lord, what a bunch of pigs… Otherwise, Bernice has spent enough time at the DeGroot house that she should know how messy it is, specially the bathroom.

Seeing Luann so happy is so sweet ♡. She wants the best for her best friend, Bernice knows it and starts to be happy ♡. Obviously, they still have many things to learn about how to have a good coexistence.

We remodeled out bathroom. It now has two sinks. My wife’s half looks like the cartoon, my half has a cup and a toothbrush holder. Picture the satellite view of the Korean Peninsula at night. BUT don’t go near my workbench!

Luann is such a great host.

Luann is so HAPPY that Bernice will be living with her. I hope Luann’s fun and light attitude will help Bernice have more FUN…she was so stressed with the RA job.

I was that age(long ago) and shared a bathroom with 3 others in the house and our bathroom never looked anywhere like that! Now it’s me & hubby and it still never looks like that!

That woman has a serious self-worth problem.

How could anybody present someone with a counter on which there is not one square inch of open space and claim that it’s been “cleared”? Luann is being almost aggressively selfish here.

Terrific!! Now we get to hear Bernice snark about the bathroom as well as Luann’s bedroom!

Generosity of Spirit, thy name is ‘Luann’. Not!

This answers Frank’s question about why Luann takes “forever” in the bathroom.

Does Luann ever get to evolve? She’s getting a bit old to be this much of a slob and not even notice it.

Reminds me of my sister’s bathroom. I organize it every time I visit, whether she wants me to or not. I can’t stand a clutter sink counter. It traps germs.

I see the setup here, Bern will complain about her free housing situations and demand a handout.

There’s still a few things to work out.

Well Luann showed some empathy in panel one, which was good… and then backslid a bit in panel 3. But I’ll take the bit of positive development we got.

Depending upon the size/layout of the DeGroot house, we have to contemplate a) if this is a house with only ONE bathroom (that is shared then by all four of the people (Frank, Nancy, Luann, and now Bernice)) or b) if there are at least two bathrooms, where this one may be only for the “kids bedrooms” which would then make this “Luann’s Bathroom” and she is now sharing with Bernice.

If a)… then the amount of space afforded Bernice is appropriate. The bathroom is messy as hell, which is uninviting, but… that can be rectified (and should be rectified by communal effort).

If b)… then the amount of space afforded Bernice is rather skimpy and even though Luann appears to genuinely mean well…. she really needs to offer Bernice more space… and Luann should clean up the space ahead of Bernice putting her stuff in.

If this is a set up for a female variant of our “Odd Couple” parings… I think this is rather unfortunate, for we have had more than ample story arcs of that vein already with the dynamic duo of Gunther and Les.

The actual best part about today’s comic though… is easily… the acknowledgement by Luann that Bernice is having a rough time and that Luann is glad Bernice is there. That statement does a world of good for people who are sad or hurt by life or circumstances.

I noticed there are plenty of drawers below the sink. Also, Luann can put a lot of that stuff in a cabinet, dresser, or table in her room. I have a 4 drawer chest in my walk-in closet to put stuff & not clutter the counter.

That’s how my cat clears a shelf, too— by knocking everything onto the floor.

Oh, I’d LOVE it if this were the house’s only bathroom. It would mean Frank and Nancy are hypocrites. And it would mean that when Brad used to live here, too, it must have looked like pure butt!

Luann showed so much love and understanding for her friend, maybe that could translate to a little bit of room on the bathroom counter?

I think Bernice is now wishing she was back in the dorm sharing that bathroom with 12 other people who aren’t as messy as Louann. As for shared bathrooms on my campus it was common practice to bring all your supplies in a bag and take your shower and clean up after yourself and carry all your supplies back to your room. The bathrooms for the most part remained spotless, except for general cleaning.

Just get everyone a small suitcase to carry their bathroom stuff around in and replace those shelves with a small table to open the suitcase on.

Dear, dear clueless Luann. She really is clueless, isn’t she? I would love to see this arc actually bring her to see her own selfishness and begin to think of others. It’s time she grew up a little.
