Yes, it’s true. All you need is love. Do you hear that, Antifa? Do you hear that, BLM? Do you hear that Democrats and Republicans?
Do you think it can’t work? Think back, those of you who are old enough…ask your elders, those of you who are too young…1969…Woodstock…500,000 people celebrating together in peace and harmony, even in the face of ridiculously poor conditions.
Sorry Pig, this one is gonna take more than a lot of love. Not sure just what else it’s gonna need, reason, compassion, empathy, science, the needless end of a lot more lives, or something else to horrible to imagine than none of us have thought of, but something more.
But one pig’s surfeit of Love is not going to solve this world’s problems—it won’t even come close. Sorry to be your Debbie Downer, but it is what it is….
4th of July Picnic and Fireworks to spread the “Love” ! For those on this side of the pond have fun and be Loveable tomorrow ! Happy 4th of July ! … Croc Power !
“A new commandment I give you, love one another.” Jn 13:34. Jesus knew what he was doing. Legislating morality never works- the world is changed one person at a time. Pig got it.
John Lennon told us it was all we need. Burt Bacharach told us the world needs it now. Sammy Fain said it was “a many splendored thing.” Another commodity in short supply these days, but so very, very welcome when, and if, you can find it.
Some decades ago there was a naughty slapstick “eponymous” (look it up) bbc series BennyHill. Once, dressed as a dame, our leering host threw off the immortal line:“what’s this thing called, love?”
back to back to back silly stuff like that, till he died.
Today would have been my sister’s 63rd birthday. We lost her to cancer in March of 2017. I miss her so much. Now, we have thousands of people dead from a virus that we fumbled early on. But I am confident that we’ll ultimately defeat this thing. And by early 2021 or so, we’ll have vaccines and/or treatments available for the general public (after first responders and people in high risk groups getting first dibs). In the 2012 Democratic Convention, Joe Biden said, “It has never been a smart idea to bet against America!” I believe that still. We’ll get through this. In the meantime, let’s start concentrating on what unites us rather than divides us. We’ll sink or swim together.
A nebula, concretion, a big chunk of schmutz in third place from a star, more crashing schmutz, everything molten, suddenly another gigantic stone out of left field and a moon appears, all mixed thoroughly, crusty surface welcomes ice balls out of nowhere, five or so billion years later we and our large cerebrums have come to destroy it all. Does make Mars look better and better.
To the extent that love plays a role in human reproductive behavior, at 7.8 billion and rapidly rising toward 10 billion, we are loving ourselves out of existence.
Re: Lots of comments above about the song “All You Need Is Love”. Similarly, today is my wife’s birthday, so as she opened her card and present over breakfast, I played “When I’m 64” on CD. She liked it. We call it the Beatle birthday in our extended family. Yep, OK Boomers.

I’d like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to buy the world a coke
And keep it company
That’s the real thing.
