DEcision 2012: Which one is more credible?
Man: First we cut taxes for the rich. They'll invest. Economic output will increase. EVentually: jobs.
Barack Obama: Unemployed? Don't like it? Kill yourself.
The President is not saying that.
This is a straw man.
Except the Republican is spot on. THEY are saying exactly that. The same lie that dragged the country into hell during the Bush years.
This is really in poor taste. There’s no humor in it. Comics are meant to enlighten in some way. Not denigrate crassly. Boo to the editor who allowed this.
There is a way to encourage the rich to invest in jobs while simultaneously giving them tax breaks.
The government doesn’t produce wealth, but it does produce debt and inflation. I’m not saying the government doesn’t have legitimate functions.
I don’t think the average person realizes how much “money” he could make if the government didn’t have its hand in every pocket they can find. Which is better, making 40 K a year and having all these bureacracies or making 60-70 K a year but being responsible to take care of your own needs?
@H-buck- “Which is better, making 40 K a year and having all these bureacracies or making 60-70 K a year but being responsible to take care of your own needs?”
There’s no way we could cut taxes enough for someone to go from 40k take home pay to 60 or 70k take home. We’ve seen over the last 30 years that tax cuts and income increases are going into the pockets of the wealthy. The entire Tea Party mantra about taxes & government regulation is a decoy to keep us from realizing that the working people are being screwed.
Tax cuts & deregulation don’t create many good jobs in the U.S., they only make Wall Street richer.
Where did these right wing nut jobs come up with this mantra that government cannot produce wealth? Throughout our history the government has taken actions that produce wealth for society. The Erie Canal produced a great deal of wealth for the state of New York. The transcontinental railroads, whose construction was heavily subsidized by the government, opened the west and made it the world’s breadbasket. The GI bill after WWII invested in the education of vets and produced people who not only increased their personal income but whose education led to a number of advances that benefited and profited the whole society. Should I go on?

Rall’s bitterness has left him with little insight into current affairs and less humor.

I take it Rall hates the president more so than usual.

Even Cluck Kant isn’t this hateful and extreme. Ted overstepped on this one no matter which side you favor.
