With the complexity of driving, and the quality of software, plus the greed of corporations to cheapen the process and upkeep, just can see robot cars being successful and trustworthy. Don’t get me started on Russian hacks.
Of course, we should all keep in mind this first ran back in 2012—automated driving has made some notable breakthroughs since then.
Really, the only thing stopping it from going widespread at the moment is the safety concerns, and that’s largely because the automated drivers struggle to predict, and thereby adequately react, to the cars still being driven manually. If all the cars on the road went automated all at once, then that wouldn’t be such a problem, but since that’s impractical as a solution just yet, we have to further refine those automated drivers to better respond to the manual drivers still on the road…which is probably smarter anyway, in the long run, it’s just also dragging it out.

Maybe if we put barbwire around our phones, and line our laptops with kudzu, Twitter would be less of a threat.

Then the cars will realize they don’t need humans anymore…. No robot cars =D
