Oh please, can we take politics out of the comic section?? How about we comment on how the price of gas seems to change every 5 minutes? Sigh…

Lightenup you haven’t seen nothing yet or are you at your location over the $4. range? We here in KS are heading there now I’m hearing $5. for summer in May. Give us a break. They are both right that one losy bonus pay only for gas. I work pt and gas will take more of my check up. I can’t quit either to much budget cuts. More positions are going to be let go now within the county. City, state, and public schools went through this. Public school have to go through more cuts. School has been punished enough.

Darkforce it would seem that you are a union supporter. I would ask you this. How many jobs in the US have been created by unions? I don’t mean how many people be belong to unions whose salaries are paid by the compnay they work for, I mean how many business are owned and operated by unions, make products or services that earn money to be paid to working people such as yourself. Men and women who start and run companies, who build houses, who serve you meals, they create jobs, not unions.

In my company, there are probably 7 levels of management between me and the CEO. Five of those levels are management positions that are held by women. And I can guarantee that they make as much or more than the men who might be in the same levels in the company.

If you believe that male bosses give more money to male employees then would the same be true for a boss who is female would do the same for the females working for her?

Hey Folks: Whether you like the Tea Party or not, TEABAGGER is a VILE, Deragatory word describing a sex-act thats designed to humiliate someone. It would be appreciated if it were not used, Thanks………….. That being said, the Boss is a bigger D!*k Than Dickerson. ………and as far as Gas prices, There are those in Our “fearless leaders” Administration who think gas prices are definetly unfair…..That we NEED TO PAY 5 or 6 DOLLARS A GALLON LIKE THEY DO IN EUROPE TO MAKE IT FAIR! DRILL BABY DRILL, AMERICA!

Teabaggers (ooo Darkeforce I like that) have had way too much influence on the legislature for such an amorphous mass.

But back to our story…!

TheDOCTOR: someone should have explained the derogatory meaning to the Tea Party folks, who were the first to use the term to describe themselves. They shouldn’t be complaining now if their opponents use their own word against them; they certainly don’t hold back when slagging the Dems, or even the left wing of the Republicans.

Maybe at $6 per gallon, North Americans will start to lose the “car culture” mentality, and begin using the public transit that we’re all paying for anyway. Our cities are designed to discourage walking and the use of buses; where I live, we have entire neighbourhoods that feature double or triple-car garages with houses hidden behind them. Ewww!

I haven’t owned a car for several years. I walk to work, we walk for most groceries, and use taxis and buses for large loads of groceries. In the summer I use the bicycle and (former) child trailer to carry groceries and other purchases. I’ve even carried a step-ladder on the bicycle.

We do rent cars as needed when we’re travelling, but even then we can rent only as much as we need; I use an economy car when it’s just me going somewhere, and a minivan when we need to to five people, along with medieval and modern clothing and camping gear.

I’d love to be able to walk to work…. and even at $6 a gallon moving closer than 45 miles wouldn’t be cost effective.

OK guys, enough with the teabagging comments! There is so much outright lies abut the TEA party it’s disgusting. you know what? you don’t like becing called fascist nazis any more than the next guy, so who is going to be the better man here?

The reality of politics right now is to cause fighting amongst We The People so we are distracted from what is really going on. And if you knew, it would scare the sh*t out of you. Those in power are hidden while the Congress is the paid pawns. We The People fight over a few words like tea party, taxes, abortion, immigration, and education. Left wing, right wing, and wing ding. It’d be better to live outside the country so we wouldn’t have to watch the daily, petty squabbles. Certainly would lower the blood pressure, indigestion, and indignation.

Saskfan - I’m glad you have that option, but it isn’t available reasonably to all of us. I live way too far from work to be able to walk, and the public transportation in our area would still take me about 21/2 hours each way just for travel. I can drive it in 20. I simply don’t have an extra 4+ hours a day to give to a bus.

I don’t know where Saskfan lives, but the closest grocery store to my house is 2 miles away and on the other side of I-15 and the Union Pacific tracks. My 16 year-old autistic daughter walks only as far as things she sees that she wants to go to; to take her places she doesn’t want to go requires a wheelchair and a car.

Our bus service here comes by once an hour at best and it would take 2.5 hours( and a transfer) for my eldest daughter to get to her college… it takes 10 minutes to drive there. Why should she give up over 4 hours of her day to riding buses?

Not every city has well-designed, convenient bus service, and not every family has healthy, able-bodied members. Many of us are older, disabled, and ticked off at the PC crowd that thinks they have all the answers.
