“If lightning strikes the middle of the ocean and no one is there, does it still go boom?” Seriously, whoever came up with the tree question and why do people think it’s philosophical?
This is not a new phenomenon. The late, great Mike Royko once (early ‘80s, IIRC) wrote of going to a bungee-jumping place to see what all the fuss was about. He told of watching a young man do the jump, after which he & his friends ran to the booth that sold video of you doing it, watched his jump – and then started high-fiving and celebrating; he had just done it, but it wasn’t real for him until he saw it on TV.
This pathetic mindset has gotten worse since the dawn of anti-social media, but it is a matter of degree, not kind.
What about “If you go to a reopened movie theatre after Tenet or Mulan is finally released in August 2020 and have a good temperature check when entering and suddenly you throw up after pulling down your face mask and eating popcorn mixed in with hand sanitizer, did it really happen that they didn’t know it’s COVID-19 related or not?”
Or if you’re William Shatner on a jet plane on the way home from a mental institution and see a Gremlin on the plane wing and no one else sees it, does it really exist?

If it isn’t in social media it isn’t real. Gosh, everyone knows that.

Pwople are no longer sure of themselves, so now they’re desperate for the approval of their peers to validate their lives.

Never mind tweeting. If you forgot your fitbit or your pedometer, does it still matter?

If I don’t read a strip on GoComics, does it make me laugh?

I stink, therefore, I am. (A tad more thought than, “If a husband says something in the forest, is he still wrong”?)

If a man speaks his mind in a forest, and no woman hears him, is he still wrong?
