This is why I had my adventures before I had kids. I had fun, got into trouble (and got out of trouble), travelled and partied. Now that I have more of a domesticated life, I have no regrets nor do I wish that I was still doing those things. I totally appreciate and enjoy my life at home with my family, and I don’t find it boring. I agree with jaeldid66… it’s plenty exciting for me!
On the other hand, I have a friend who recently divorced her husband and is acting like a 22 year old again. Considering she has 3 children, 8 years and under, and is around 40 years old, I can see how her delayed “wild child” behavior is affecting others.

An exciting life is only temporary, Elly leads a fulfilling life with a husband and two children (cleaning up the spit may not seem so fulfilling today though)
But when they get old, Elly will have a close family to enjoy.
When Phil gets old, his only hope is that John and Elly’s family will come to visit at Christmas.
Yes, FBorFW is a Canadian Comic. Based (loosely) on the life of Lynn Johnson, as she lived in a small town of Lynn Lake then ‘small town’ Ontario just north of Toronto (about the size of 1990’s Milton).
Also Ms. Johnson ended the originals to go back in history and those I don’t know how much she has changed. Why she had Elly stay married to John I’ll never know.
That was my plan too Lightenup. I had a ton of adventures and experiences before having kids at age 32 and 35. I thought I would be content to just sit back and remember the excitement… but it’s hard. Kind of like mourning because by the time the kids are old enough for me to have some freedom again, I’ll probably not be that interested in it anymore.
I know that I am blessed to have two incredibly wonderful kids and I’m very thankful for them. I enjoy watching them grow up and being here for them. But there is a large part of me that really, really misses the excitement and the old life I had.
Well, I had an interesting trip in the bathroom recently where I stumbled over one of Elizabeth’s toys and narrowly missed falling into an empty bathtub. Upon hitting the tile, I noticed dust behind the toilet bowl so I brought in the vacuum and while cleaning up the dust I discovered that there was also a ring around the tub. As I finished vacuuming I put it away and returned to the bathroom where I grabbed a sponge and Comet and cleaned the tub. Since I already was cleaning porcelain I decided to clean the sink and toilet too. After which, I put windex on the mirror and grabbed a paper towel to wipe the mirror down. It was then that I noticed the counter could use a wipe down as well.
My wife and I did it just the opposite. We had kids while we were young. Now they’re grown up, out of the house, and we’re still not 50. We’ve kept ourselves in good shape, so now we can do whatever we want and have some money with which to do it!
She lived and worked in Cormir, Ontario, a suburb of North Bay. Her husband really was a dentist and crammed a full dental facility into a Cessna and had a practice over a fairly wide area.
I just love having those conversations. “Yeah, I went backpacking around Europe and lived in Scotland for a few months. What have you been up to? Why haven’t I heard from you lately?”
“Um… work, pay mortgage, take the dog for a walk, grade papers, sleep, repeat. Sorry I kept that riveting news from you!” ;)
