I remember a gag from The Lucy Show, back in the ’70’s:

She’s at NASA, talking with some astronauts, and one of them makes a joke. The other one snaps back. “Hey, no one likes a smart astronaut!” I was only nine, I didn’t get it at the time, wondered why the audience laughed so hard…

My toaster has turned into a burner. It seems to decide on its own how long to work, despite the toast setting.
