In a world. Dominated by clauses. One man. A seeker of truth. Makes a fateful decision. To seek a client. A client who appreciates good work. Complete sentences. And respects his sanity.
I am freelance writer, and I can tell you some people will drive you up the wall. I would write for this guy but at the beginning I would tell him make changes once after that its so much an hour. That usuallly cuts down on the objections.
Making sentences “less sentency” isn’t necessarily nitpicking. As a software developer, I have to deal with things like that from time to time. Users don’t want to read long sentences, especially if they’re repeated (as in an error log) so we try to present the information in “bullet form” instead, retaining only what’s vital. So it’s the difference between “The device failed to connect.” and “device failed to connect”.

If they wanted “Less Sentency” they should have hired someone who posts on Twitter.

A job like that just drains his creativity. He’d be better off working on his own book than working for this fellow!

Even so, there will be no “Aha!” moment. Adam is delightfully dent-proof. :-)

I suspect Steve Jobs will not be asking Adam to write technical manuals again.

It’s not just a job, it’s a sentence.

I fired a client once. It’s a painful decision but sometimes it’s a choice between hurting someone’s feelings and your own personal sanity.

You could have put it another way, “Could you provide me with an example of what your looking for? My ESP skills are quite honed yet.”
Then again, it’s Friday and the end of the arc.
