I suppose that I should be grateful that I have a house, food and even toilet paper. But the fact that that makes me one of the lucky ones just depresses me.
Dryly observed, but nonetheless true.
One of the old groaners in my age cohort is the answer to any complaint about how hard life is being: “It’s better than the alternative!”
The older I get, the less likely I am to think I’d rather have the alternative. So far.
