^ Good luck on that… it’s would be the shortest list and shortest hearing ever.

But at least the toon is funny.

^ Why do you say it would be a short list? The list of “Christian” extremists is unending.

I understand Rep. King is going to use interrogation techniques he learned from the IRA.

Har! And Zing! Dj, you’re so, so wrong. King was a long-time supporter of the IRA, and was even documented on video saying that they had the same moral level as the British Army; he has ties to one of the IRA’s major funding organizations (in the US, alas and of course). Just a few other Christian extremists in the US: Army of God (which favors “whatever force” to defend unborn children, including killing abortionists) Christian Identity (white nationalist and anti-semitic believers, some of whom think non-Caucasians have no souls) The Posse Comitatus, a Christian Identity group which evolved into the Christian Patriot movement (e.g., the Montana Freemen) Hutaree, another spinoff of Christian Identity, which plans for the battle with the Antichrist, whom they assume will be supported by police and all government forces. The Lambs of Christ - one member murdered a physician Scott Roeder, who killed George Tiller The list goes on. What people don’t seem to understand here is that terrorism is about the person and the shape of the organization – not the root belief. No one could read the words of the Gospels and really take up arms to kill people – and yet people do. (Incidentally, it is generally agreed that the part of the Gospels where Jesus says “I come not to bring peace but a sword” was added long after his death by, yes, extremists…)

Motive, you left out a few:

James Dobson, who advocates death for abortionists Jerry Falwell, who has expressed sentiments like Phelps Oral Roberts, who is sure AIDS is God’s revenge for homosexuals, et alia

Of the “top 1000” hate groups in America, almost all trace to RADICAL “Christians”. From the KKK to “sovereigns”, to well, the list is WAY TOO LONG, the supposed “Prince of Peace”, has huge numbers of really whacko “supporters” who don’t believe he really said what he meant. Fred Phelps is quite sadly, NOT as extreme as some of his “fellows”.

RADICAL ANYTHING– is well nuts. “Radical” capitalists, following Ayn Rand’s characters as “heros” have led this country down the primrose path to bankruptcy, and empire building- we need to dump that too.

King’s apologies for the IRA are more than a tad weird as well, but hey, he’s an admitted “not ego deprived”- soooo?

^YOU are loony, churchill. Try reading what he is actually claiming and what he wants to do. He thinks every person of the 1.5 billion of the Islamic faith should be held to account for not reining in the extremists, while at the same time openly defending the IRA. Rarely has the term “witch hunt” been more appropriate. Hauling in a bunch of Muslims to ask them why they haven’t been reining in the radicals in Iraq is simply ridiculous. Boy, you have a hard time fitting anything new into your tiny little predetermined box, don’t you?
