I’m beginning to wonder if the classic “Sad Sack” comic book character may have been a grown up Charlie. Brown in the infantry…..

I forget which movie the line came from, but I’m hearing.. “Scripture? Did you quote scripture?” Maybe it was a cartoon.

this has been a long story arc. I am dreading seeing the other shoe drop for CB. . .he can’t be this happy and respected for much longer.

The “prophet respected everywhere but his own country” theme with Charlie Brown happens a few times. The other instance I can think of is a few years after this strip when CB ends up coaching a team of toddlers called the Goose Eggs who see him as their wise elder.
