Where’s the TP that came off the twenty or so rolls? Let’s see how amusing dear little Shannon’s antics are when Toni realizes, “OMG we’re out of toilet paper!!!”.
Toni, young, beautiful, energetic, and slowly being drained. Someone should tell Greg that this is not “Little House on the Prairie”. Toni doesn’t have to cook, clean, and take care of the young’uns. She should not be considered only as good as her next chore or favor. Can you just picture Prince William and Kate sending over a couple of the Royal offspring and telling Meghan and Prince Harry to watch them for a week or so? Ha. Meghan would kick Harry’s butt all the way back to The Tower of London and have him sleep with the ravens for a night.
Some of those tubes do not even line up, and with no corner elbows, Hammy is going to drop right to the floor. Unless there are 5,000 yards of toilet paper underneath on the floor to catch her.
Shannon is sincere. She’s not playing, but she’s planning a complex playing route for the hamster… The worst is that I can see my 8-year-old self doing exactly the same, or something even more stupid and reckless.
Here’s what I’m not hoping for but also hoping for.
I’m hoping Nana doesn’t die from Shannon’s actions BUT I’m also hoping that Brad will console her and strength their bond. I can see Shannon completely heartbroken and crying in Brad’s lap while he’s holding her. THAT’S what I want to see!
I sure hope Shannon isn’t using Office supply tape. That stuff won’t stick long enough to support poor little Hammy. He’ll go tumbling to the floor, scurry under the couch and then you’ll never see him again…until that musky odor from the end table makes you search behind the credenza.
Mischief, if children never had that most of the great cities we are now quarantined in would not exist, or the great ideas, or if improperly nurtured and directed, some of the criminal mischief. I still wonder though if this is only going to be hilarity ensues primarily, or leading to other arcs. By the way Toni is getting more gorgeous by the drawing. Marriage to Bwad is doing her good, Now for the pregnancy glow, yeah I said so sue me.
When my kids were little and had hamsters, we would build "Hamster City.: Spread a blanket on the floor, to close off under the furniture, then put all the toy buildings around, Castles, Western towns, Mountains. The hamsters seemed to like it. So did the cats…
Well, I’m seeing a couple of walls that will soon need paint, a whole bunch of expensive toilet paper that going HAVE to be cleaned up, and hamster that just HAS to be found.
Oh brother. Brad and Old Smiley are going come home from a hard day of work and walk right smack in the middle of some major, heavyweight DRAMA if Shannon puts Nana in THAT thing and it predictably makes a break for freedom.
Or maybe not. That hamster looks too terrified to leave it cage.
That poor hamster – Shannon is going to put it through an obstacle course and cause it harm. She truly is an awful child. Makes my heart heavy. Maybe she can be sent away to a destructive child academy?
I don’t think I want to know what happened to the TP that came off those rolls. I picture a room full of loose tissue in my minds eye, all the way up to the ceiling. At least she found a use for the hoard that Brad and Toni accumulated.
Shannon is showing considerable creativity here. But, her sense of logic does not quite appear up to snuff at the moment. I think at her age, she would be able to intuit that Nana will not be willing or able to successfully navigate through the missing elbow bends…. well… I take that back…. Nana will be able to navigate them…. but most likely to EXIT the structure and scurry around elsewhere!
Perhaps after she is done taping the tubes to the wall, she will wrap some paper around the nearby ends to make the tunnel more continuous? I do think that is a logical step she is capable of making and in a real-world setting, a kid like Shannon would probably attempt that. Greg may not show that, however, for his goal may be elsewhere. But… I suspect most kids Shannon’s age would attempt it.
The hamster may be too heavy for the tape to stick to the tubes, but depending on the quality of the tape it may be strong enough.
I am hoping Greg is not going to have the tubes be found out to have come from a bunch of toilet paper Shannon may have unrolled and have laying in a pile somewhere. There could be a bunch of other ways Shannon may have gotten the tubes (such as perhaps Toni & Brad save a big box of these things and other items for “arts & crafts” projects for Shannon).
All-in-all, I am liking how Greg is showing a creative, thinking side to Shannon. It is refreshing to not have this be just “Shannon is being dumped by her Dad.” or “Shannon is in a cranky mood.” like several arcs have been in the past. This is letting us see a more complete picture of Shannon as a playful kid.
Why on earth has everyone jumped on the thought that these are TP rolls? I looked at them and thought they were cans from the recycling bin. They’re grey, not brown….
Shannon’s plan would be to meet Nana at the end of this homemade tunnel. But yes, Nana might end up squeezing out between tubes. Overall i like Shannon’s creativity and display of building aptitude. There was a time when she would talk about how bored she was. Now she has something to focus on. Some kids beg to have a pet and then they lose interest and parents end up caring for it.
I posted my comment about expecting all the toilet paper from those rolls to be on the floor not long after the strip posted. There were only about four other comments at the time and none of them said the same thing.
Now, we have several dozen comments all either asking where the rolls came from or commenting on where the TP from those rolls went.
Does anyone bother to read the comments before posting anymore? Every one of those several dozen posts represents several dozen separate “I didn’t read before posting” situations. And then those who read but do not comment are dissuaded from doing so because the comments are so numerous (and duplicative).
Which means all those people who just had to post before reading essentially aren’t going to have their comment read by very many people anyway.
And they probably won’t see this, either … but I feel better for having ranted. As Dennis Miller used to say when he did rants on his old CNBC and HBO shows: It’s just my opinion, I could be wrong. (But, like him, I am not.)
Speaking to the several dozen people who have suggested that Shannon removed the TP from all those rolls, do you think that she really has had the time to unroll all the rolls, then construct the maze, all during the time it took for Toni to make two sandwiches?
I HAVE read all the posts, I think, and was wondering if anyone had mentioned that Nana the hamster would probably have babies while she’s visiting Brad and Toni’s place with Shannon………….
I loath when Shannon appears. seems to me the “bad guy or gal” in this strip NEVER has repercussions for their actions. Ann Eiffel being number one…come on already she needs to go or at least have the fiancee see her for what she is…And Shannon’s brother is a dirtbag who this time didnt even walk the kid to the door.
