Why would we wait until this pandemic to start complaining about record debt? Just because it’s an even greater record than the one he was already setting prior to March?

Seems about right, in a metaphorical kind of way. It’s really too bad that he had already run up the debt so high before we had a crisis of this proportion.

Bonespurs and the Turtle are quite determined to set new record on the deficit and debt, and they’re getting there.

More tax breaks for oil companies, did you know they lost profits? Trump decided they must be repaid, never mind spending any money testing Americans. Trump said there is no need for that. Thanks Republicans!!

‘I Don’t Think It’s Needed’: Trump Says Widespread, Nationwide Testing Isn’t Necessary To Reopen Country

    .

Don’t ya think that sounds murderously insane?

Testing is the only way to know where the virus is.

Why don’t Republicans ever do anything the right way?

The only future Trump cares about is election day, and then only if he wins.

Whenever there is a Republican president we seem to end up digging deeper into debt with massive tax cuts and spending. When a Democrat is elected, the Republicans will fight when the Democrat tries to fix it, and they blame the debt on the Democrat.

Perhaps a voter requiring an IQ certification above 80 would eliminate any Republican ever getting elected again..

The debt was created to make the Wealthy wealthier. As long as that is the case, the debt will continue to grow. After all, the wealthy are in control.

Funny how no one is talking about the tax rate increases that must happen when the eventual recovery is in full swing (no children, we can’t “grow” our way out of this debt)

Hang in there kids, you are about to see another Great Depression. While the COVID-19 shut down is the immediate catalyst, years of voodoo economics by the GOP will assure it is deep and long. We’ve been living on borrowed time with the rich treating the US Treasury as a open ended credit card – and Trump’s GOP enables it “to own the libs”. The problem with fouling your own bed to spite someone else is you have to lie in it too.

Republicans are only concerned about debt when there is a Democrat in the White House.

It’s OK when Republicans do it. Trump is working on getting a second term using Treasury (our tax) money. He’s about as incompetent at it as he is about everything else, but he and his cronies are definitely running up the National debt. (Not saying we shouldn’t spent money to respond to this pandemic, mind you.)

Debt isn’t a problem (source: R. Reagan); if, and only if, a Democrat is elected president, Publicans will start screeching about the Debt again, for leverage in denying funding for necessary or desirable programs.

Nobody has yet commented that the splashes of red around the baby carriage might be considered a little…excessive?

Generally I like Stantis, and the argument behind the cartoon is sound, but I’d have preferred a less graphic depiction of infantophagy…
