The MAGA heads are probably beyond hope. I’m (very) slightly optimistic that non-voters will get shaken out of their Stupor and get out and vote for (YUCK) Ol’ Joe. Our future as a species may depend on it.
Ted….. I’m sure the Fascist in the white house will borrow more money from our children to chase more support from poor white people in the south long before they become bomb throwers. And then the will send his supporters another huge check a week before he cancels the election. Meanwhile he will continue to accuse the Dems of manipulating the system and stealing the election.
I think Ted just consistently overestimates the number of people who would throw Molotov cocktails under ANY circumstances.
Yeah, maybe more of us SHOULD be willing to take direct and immediate action, but most of us, I think, would always stop well short of torches and pitchforks.
Except, that’s not all that most people losing their jobs are getting. All W-2 workers are getting whatever state unemployment privides plus $600/week. Certain Republicans are angry because some people wind up making more after getting fired, than they did for working.
Then, there’s the literally free money given to companies that retain their employees. Yes, there are some people who are slipping through the cracks. Does this crisis show we badly need to reform our social safety nets? Heck, yeah! Are we sliding to a place where there’ll be widespread famine? Only if the virus completely disrupts supply chains, which seems unlikely.
Rall doesn’t want the safety nets to work. He wants 4 more years of Trump. I can see him hoping the food supply breaks down & causes a famine. He wants maximum misery for regular people. He wants to recreate the conditions of 1789 France & 1917 Russia, so the usual suspects can repeat the same stupid mistakes of the Jacobins & Bolsheviks.
My “plan B” has been (for decades) to hijack valuable cars and eat the occupants!Robert Heinlein mentioned a holiday called, lovingly, “The Day We Hung All the Lawyers”!We can kill two birds with one stone by killing Trump and turning Mar a Lago and Trump Tower over to the homeless. For entertainment, they can have Ivanka and the rest of the Trump tribe.
