The more I read the words for “The American”, I can hear the voice of actor SAM ELLIOTT. Anyone else agree?

O’Malley took one look at the guy’s spirit aura, No wonder he skedaddled….

What is Ben looking at?

Ben has had a little experience with O’Malley’s spiritual vision, so maybe he can imagine what O’Malley saw in this fellow.

But most likely he’s spotted one of the buggerups/malforms that likes to hang with O’Malley. Perhaps the purple hippo wants to help Ben escape?

Ah ha, THAT’S why Mal fled, and I’m guessing he had good reason, as I’m pretty sure Mal picked up on how this guy’s up to no good, or was at least altogether untrustworthy, because Mal’s good at that sort of thing. Clearly, our American “friend” here doesn’t know all the details of what comes with being a witch.

New priority for Ben, then—figure out just what the heck this “job” the American wants Mal for, and most likely, be working out how to stop it.

In other news, I’m surprised the knuckleheads that American considers his lackeys were able to track down Mal at all at any point in time. They definitely didn’t seem that capable earlier when they snagged two people that are most definitely not the real Harry and Sid.

Hm. He’s greasy and annoying, but so far Mr. American isn’t too bad… Just Regular Bad Guy ranking. It seems likely that this “job of a lifetime” for Mal will make his murky motives clearer, though…

“Job of a lifetime”, possibly implying that said lifetime might not continue much past the completion of the job.
