What’s actually starting to get traction: Doing what we need to do to “flatten the curve” of infections. What that looks like to a cartoonist: The picture above.
Social distancing, testing, and stockpiling protective gear are methods used to slow (not stop) the spread of a respiratory virus. However, due to the lack of preparations taken by the Feds since they became aware of this virus, these measures haven’t been deployed. The U.S. thus has no idea of how many existing cases there are and we can’t project future cases.
There’s a story of a guy who looked at his deadbeat layabout offspring, sighed, and said, Well, that was 3 minutes wasted. Wonder if Buttercup’s sire ever had second thoughts about the results of his honeymoon.
The Covid-19 progress site below was updated today. As an example of the spread, 2 days ago the US showed some on both coasts and only a small dot or two in central US. Lots of new cases since.
Our prayers go out to all who are or who might become afflicted. Some authorities are working hard to overcome the massive inertia holding down the federal agencies and, despite Buttercup’s infantile behavior, they will eventually succeed. In the meantime self-quarantine, keep up the best health practices you can, and hold tight.
Missed Trumps rant last nite. Saw the “highlights” on Korean news at 10pm-a 30 min program totally devoted to US news. Trump wants to cut payroll taxes. But in his budget he states he wants to cut Social Security. The GOTP has wanted to totally get rid of Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid ever since they were passed. Now add in the ACA.I wonder, if this continues will Trump try to prevent the 2020 election? OR, will many state election boards go the way Oregon did. Only mail in ballots
Trump met with the CEOs of major corporations, although he is visibly sick (but does not get tested – leadership by example there), he SHOOK HANDS with every one of them. If I were one of the CEOs I would have instantly gotten out the hand sanitizer and make a big show of disinfecting myself. I would have done it even if there were no virus.
