    The danger from this virus may be low but the correct information needs to be out there. The Spanish Flu was swept under the rug far too long.

    The numbers are starting to be large enough to use statistics (this is not  a good thing since that means a lot of people are sick and some have died). Thus, with some confidence we can say:

    R₀ is about 2.5 (between 1.5 and 3.5). Compare with flu at about 2.5, or measles at about 15 (how many people catch it from one carrier)

    Cases world-wide: 81, 110 as of 26 February

    Deaths world-wide: 2,760

    Mortality (once infected): 3.4% (as compared with flu at about 0.05%)

    Mortality age distribution: From above 20% for those over 80 years to zero for those under 9 years. Covid-19 kills people who have compromised circulatory systems or lungs.
