None of the Democratic candidates is a socialist. Sanders is not a socialist. Sanders is a New Deal liberal. Look at FDR’s second bill of rights, from 1944; Sanders’ program fits right in.

Democratic Socialism was the compact between government, business, and citizenry that built all of America’s infrastructure between 1930 and 1980.

Your elementary through high school, fire dept, police dept, library, roads, street lights, water treatment, dams, levees, airports, highway system, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Post Office, garbage, court house, FDA, OSHA, CDC, snow plows, street sweepers, electrical grid – all of that was our tax dollars used by the government to contract businesses to hire Americans to build our country into a powerhouse.

Your American Dream was built on Democratic Socialism. Unfettered capitalism destroyed it. America wasn’t always like this.

What utter crap you’re spewing today, Mr Ramirez. From the end of World War II up to the election of Ronald Reagan, these “Communist” programs that you’re hiding under your bed from were mainstream, often bipartisan political positions. Nixon favored national health insurance/Medicare for all. Eisenhower supported higher federal tax rates on the 1% than Bernie has proposed. Many states had tuition-free public universities and colleges. Both parties supported much higher business tax rates. Learn some history, Mr Ramirez, even though the guy who signs your paycheck wants to rewrite and fictionalized it. And some honesty.

The difference is that Dems want government programs that help people (health care, housing, education, etc.) and Reps just want government programs that kill and incarcerate people (prisons, detention centers for children, police, military — not that we don’t need these things, just that Republicans seems fine busting the budget to buy big bombs and putting people behind bars — at great profit to the CEOs and owners that get the big government contracts).

Somehow, that symbol doesn’t bother me at all. After all, it’s about workers.

Love it. It is especially amusing to read the comments defending the Dems in general. The Dems themselves are running scared and condemning Bernie as being too far left, but when you examine their proposals the separation is quite narrow.

Ramirez, Trump is the one doing Putin’s bidding by pulling out of treaties, alienating long-term I.S. allies, denigrating NATO, withholding Ukraine defense funds, having private meetings with Russians, etc.

The Dem candidates are proposing SOCIAL programs to support people. Note that SOCIAL and SOCIETY share the same root. State colleges used to be cheap or even free. A healthy, educated society will be better for the economic health of the U.S.

The authoritarian countries that call themselves “socialists” don’t understand the word any better than you do (or is this just pretending?).

Yep. Meanwhile Ramirez ignores how even Putin is on record saying he ordered his government intelligence agencies to do what they did cause he likes Trump and wanted him to be his puppet president.

Except that it’s the Republicans saying "Bernie is a Risk. What we need are “The biggest, best government ever with the best people when they aren’t getting indicted” solutions." And cranking out this Communism propaganda BS.

The American people have become really stupid (and poorer) since a treasonous Ronald Reagan cut taxes for the rich and raised them on the poor to make up that difference. Never worked, never will. No one is trying to nationalize corporations, just making them pay their fair share. Jebus people, I never made more than $60 grand a year and I paid more taxes than 30 of our largest corporations making billions by sending American jobs off shore.

This willful ignorance is no improvement on silence.
