Look at the bright side (for Bloomberg), he can now write that $500 million off on 2020 tax returns. What a truly profound waste of money. Must be nice to have that kind of money to waste.

At least Bloomberg bribes were coming out of his own wealth rather than the public treasury.

That didn’t age well. It was refreshing to have some truth in political ads for a while.

In a few weeks, Trump will start trying to buy the election too. Maybe Verne will get his “free college” and “universal healthcare” wishes then, but I doubt it. More likely all he’ll get is a a cool sticker for his flying car.

This gives us an idea of how far ahead Lewis and Fry work. I’d bet this strip was done before the last debate.

Pay me now, a little at a time, or pay me later – HUGE bills, is the difference between taxes for health care like in New Zealand and other “care for all” systems, and our current system that sends folks into poverty if they get sick. Yes, keeping private insurance and providers for supplemental non-critical things like “nose jobs” for Vern, with critical care covered as “basic”, makes sense..

Free education should have a stipulation: higher education requires reasonable achievement. Some foreign countries use a very effective method: the government will pay for your college if you meet a reasonable grade requirement. If not you get to spend your life doing menial labor (unless of course, you’re a whiz kid who makes a fortune by being ingenious). Government paid basic education? We got that (as messed up as it is). College? That needs to be earned by displaying responsibility and ability. Kids being punks, bullies and not taking school seriously have no right to expect a free ride; there are consequences for actions, both good and bad. In countries where education is taken seriously… education works. How far down on the list is the U.S. right now?

I want to move over the hedge!

there will never be health care for all and free college. there’s no money to pay for it because companies like Amazon don’t pay taxes and the top 1% got a big tax break and the taxes they pay is there pocket change. it is hard to pay for what is being promised with what the middle class pays in taxes.

“Free” healthcare is much, MUCH cheaper than a flying convertible.

How? Because universal healthcare saves patients a lot of money that big pharma, insurance companies and private medical businesses want to gouge customers. Make that gouging illegal, and BOOM!, instant savings.

And before you tell me that’s not possible, go visit Australia, then come back. I’ll wait.
