Why do inflammable and flammable mean the same thing? And why does “painting” something mean putting paint ONTO it, but “peeling” something means taking the peel OFF? Why don’t we “unpeel” oranges or eggs?

… And why do we park in driveways and drive in parkways? …

It’s the same when people say irregardless… the ir prefix negates the point they are trying to make. It’s difficult to resist rolling my eyes when I hear it.

While it may seem a minor point, this really does matter because it means that the person speaking is not giving thought to what they’re saying. My feeling is, if they care so little about speaking I CAN care even less about listening.

It would take more effort than I care to use for me to care less.
