Sharing the knowledge, insight, and wisdom makes it worthwhile. Then, even when you die, it does NOT go away.

perhaps Rat should look into theism when it comes to knowledge being retained in the afterlife, but then he’d have to look into various sects and sub-sects of theism

You can try to pass your knowledge on to others, but then people call you stupid and ignore you.

most of the people we see out in public here seem to be fervent adherents of that philosophy…

Add “watch soap operas” to “sit at home and eat bon-bons” and you have the life philosophy of Peg Bundy.

I shall add a witty and insightful comment in a moment. First let me pour another drink.

Yep, that’s about why life without immortality is ultimately meaningless. And without God and an objective purpose of human existence, even immortal life would be ultimately meaningless.

Because being stupid and eating bonbons turns out to be more boring than accumulating knowledge, gaining insight, and trying to attain wisdom. There’s no reason you can’t still take the occasional bonbon break.

No, it doesn’t “all go way.” The accumulated knowledge, gained insights, and attained wisdom I’ve received from parents, teachers, clergymen (and clergy-women), coworkers, friends, others, and just life itself has served me well over the decades. With some luck, I hope I’ve passed it on as generously as it was given to me. But the occasional bonbon is also good.

Ah, the age old question. If we’re all gonna die anyway, why do anything that isn’t fun?

You skipped a step, Rat. Once you attain that wisdom, you pass it along for others to use and grow as well. How do you think bonbons were made in the first place?

No, it doesn’t all go away. It is incorporated into your soul-spiritual existence to increase its overall knowledge , awareness and power.

there are different levels of knowledge, such as those people who are good at jeopardy, or other trivial games. then there’s the science and technology side. of course there the make believe and fantascy

Bonbons come in a flat display box like Valentine’s Day candy or a Whitman’s Sampler.

Write a book. Bookworms need to eat too. Do not drop that bonbon into the surgery patient below.

Where does one buy bonbons? I’ve never seen them at the grocery store.

We have sophisticated systems for accumulating and managing knowledge. From looking at the results of our society we have yet to make anything that preserves wisdom.

Even if life is pointless you still have choices. :-)

I think the classical response would be that wisdom is good in itself, for living a good and happy life and for making the lives of those around you better and happier, without considering whether your wisdom survives your physical existence.

That’s why I love my job. I collect and collate information for other people. They use that information in their work, and I get a lot of interesting trivia with which to bore people at parties.

I like the bon-bon theory!

Even stodgy Goat is won over by bonbons. Pig, we can take for granted….

Reminds me of a quote from Agnes Skinner from The Simpsons, about a Red Hats group she and some other women formed …

Stupid people make dumb choices and suffer the consequences . Accumulating knowledge and insight can lead to a better life for yourself.
