When the cold weather first arrives, my wife often finds a $20 bill in her jacket pocket. I guess her mother trained her to carry mad money.

$85 is about what you’ll spend nowadays at the old ball yard for a hot dog. (Yes I know that’s an exaggeration but not by much if you have a couple beers.)

Tip: Give yourself a surprise treat at the next wedding or funeral by slipping a tenner into the pocket of your suit jacket now.

I had that pleasure recently. The down side: handing over currency printed long before the colors and security measures came to be. It took quite a bit of reassuring the cashier that yes, it was real U.S. currency and still good. She had to call for a manger.

It was only a five. I scared to try to spend the fifty.

Or in my case, inside my piggy bank – $167.00 in bills. I am figuring out the coinage now. My poor piggy bank was nigh onto busting!

In my case, it’s coffee cans full of change in my closet. I empty my pockets daily onto my desk, then sort that into cans monthly. Last year I deposited over $1500 into my savings account just in change. My credit union still has the change counters we can use for free, so I don’t even have to roll it.
