Straight from the Faux World. When your defending a lowlife scumbag like Trump it’s always good to draw on ones own personal life experiences.

It must be getting really difficult for the evangelicals who actually practice Christianity to justify this increasingly excessively evil means to an end.

Trump’s faithful: 2020 tests his ties to white evangelicals By ELANA SCHOR

    January 13, 2020

The prospect of white evangelicals defecting from Trump in greater numbers is an appealing one to his critics, including the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump Republican group that last week tried to undercut his evangelical appeal in a video that asked whether he is “the best American Christians can do.” Democrats also have grounded some arguments against Trump in moral values as they court voters of faith, including evangelicals.

Mike Madrid, a California-based adviser to the Lincoln Project, said that white evangelicals have been the strongest element of Trump’s base but are starting to show signs of weakness.

“That’s literally the only voter segment that he is holding onto,” Madrid said. “We’re going right at it.”

Dershowitz has lowered the bar for lawyers to to point where the ones we called ambulance chasers in the past would look like supreme court justices.

Have you seen Dershowitz’s book on why Trump should not be impeached? He actually says that Trump could allow Putin to grab away Alaska due to it formerly belonging to Russia and that offense would not be impeachable.

He also ignores that Article II, section 4 of the Constitution, after naming specific reasons for impeachment then gives flexibility by mentioning “other high crimes and misdemeanors”. In fact, without those words Clinton woould not have been able to be impeached (though the limits of the legal definition of sex caused him to be found innocent). The reason Dershowitz wants to ignore those words is to disarm the obstruction charge, of course, given that the entire nation witnessed many incidences of obstruction by Trump.Oh, and he further wrote that tyrannical actions are not cause for impeachment.

    See: (https://books.google.com/books?id=afaBDwAAQBAJ&q=alaska#v=snippet&q=alaska&f=false )

Of course, the Government Accountability Office DID say that Trump committed a specific crime.

Perjury is one of the “other high crimes and misdemeanors” NOT specifically listed in the Article. Dershowitz has argued that only the two specifically mentioned things (bribery and treason, if my memory is working) should be allowed for impeachments.

The reason Clinton was not found guilty after being impeached is because the federal definition of “sex” is specifically intercourse — or was at that time since I do not know if that was changed later. All the testimony was that other sexual activities were engaged in, but not intercourse. Therefore (weasel wording but it is an important technicality) in saying that he “did not have sex with…” he technically did not lie to Congress when a person uses the specific legal definition, hence not perjury.

Yes, perjury is a crime, but if Dershowitz’s written statement in his book that trump can not be impeached for anything but treason or bribery is accepted then I think that people have to look at past impeachments.

A strongly recommended read, with sound and highly knowledgeable opinions from a conservative Republican who is very worried by damage to the U.S. caused by Trump:
