Nit: should be “symbiont fungus” (“symbiont” is the original Greek word for an organism which participates in symbiosis). “Symbiote” is a term mistakenly invented by Hal Clement in his classic SF novel “Needle” and he disavowed it in the sequel.
I’ve always assumed Tip was nimble and more limber than the average, uh, bloke, but he got so excited at the prospect of glamming that he managed to contort/double joint his arms from behind him to the front, while bound at the wrists. Props to the power of proper motivation.
