Give her a fixed budget; then she can see how far it really goes and buy her clothes accordingly.

My cousin used to bug her Mom (my aunt) for the “name brand” jeans.
My aunt solved the problem just like this.
She gave her a fixed amount of money, "here’s what you have to work with. You can buy 3 pairs of jeans, or you can buy ALL of the wardrobe you need for school if you buy “plain, no- brand name” clothes.
It’s your choice.
Of course, she got the name brand on her tush and NO tops, accessories, shoes, etc.
A month or so later…Mom, I need new… started.
She learned a hard lesson, then she used the “family budget” money wisely, and saved up her baby sitting/chores money for “brand name stuff.”
