Clearly, they’re not stopping to think that it’s probably both less effort and quicker to get over with and back to what they really want to do by doing the spring cleaning than it is to try and unionize.

As a kid I was expected to help. Mom and dad gave us a house to live in, food to eat, a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, took us places, took care of us. We owed THEM, but they never implied that. It is what parents do willingly.

Do they pay Mom and Dad to fix their meals, do their laundry, buy their clothes, etc? It’s a two-way street if they’re going to behave that way. They need to understand that taking care of a household is a team effort. I can see paying or giving them something special if something is out of the ordinary or requires a lot of hard work. That gives kids a little extra incentive. Regular household chores is something everyone needs to do.
