So far the comments bear witness to the truth of “Never discuss Politics or Religion… in Polite Company”. Because, of course, religion and politics are both faith based perceptions of worldviews, and highly unlikely to be subject to change based on additional experience or education. And for those eager to jump in with, “No, MY politics are based on Fact and Evidence!”… are you married? If so, you know firsthand how easily two people can see and hear the same facts, have the same experiences, yet have two very different opinions of what it means…

You will note that the conservative common taters mostly seem to be upset by the process whereas the liberal ones mostly seem to be focused on what actually happened. I guess that’s fair: If your guy is guilty, you really shouldn’t pay attention to the facts. Of course having a “your guy” in the process means that you’re not suitable to be involved in how it plays out. Nor, to be fair, should someone who actually hates the guy be involved. Of course, the GOP doesn’t do nuance, and so cannot distinguish “hate” from “dislike” from “recognize criminal behavior”.

When you are emotionally invested in an ideology, you can’t separate fact from fiction. Facts become irrelevant and the only thing that matters is promoting the ideology….
