So Snoopy and Woodstock were already sledding down a hill long before Calvin & Hobbes.

HOW DID RETAINER EXIST BACK THEN?!?!?!?!??!?!

Woodstock has no teeth. How does the retainer work?

Could it be the (marking) ring many birds wear at one of their leg? Did not know that “retainer” is the proper word for that.

Retainers on birds are as scarce as hens’ teeth.

Does a beak need a retainer?

The bobsledding tryouts for the 2022 Olympics suffer a setback.

That happened to me and I jumped off a chairlift to get it, rather than face the retribution of my parents. Still got in trouble, but not as much.

I’m always amused by the comments here—so easy to tell who grew up with Peanuts. This retainer strip is so funny. It’s a cute absurdity, like all of Snoopy’s possessions in the dog house.
