Oopsy. The Residence Life peeps did not look at his gender or did he check the box that said “none” or something like that so they looked at the name “Stefani” and assumed he was a female, the name being a diminutive of Stephanie? OR this could be a transgender female or a macho lesbian? Which one…guess we will find out tomorrow or Saturday.

So this university apparently doesn’t allow students to play cards for candy, but does allow people of different sexes to live in the same dorm room together? Oh, and they can just spend their summer and winter breaks staying in the dorms unsupervised, yet also have an enforced “lights out” time?

I’ve always had a dirty mind, but isn’t that just a little bit suggestive?

Well, this is embarrassing! Or not.

When I went to Uni in the ‘80s most of the dorms (at the University of South Carolina-Columbia) were single sex except for 2 of the upper class men dorms which were set up as apartments but still had all male or all female floors and the limited housing for graduate student (most reserved for married couples or families). In a nutshell, if you wanted to live with your girlfriend or boyfriend you went off campus. In the ’90 many dorms became co-ed at least by floor and some had mixed floors (like I thought Tiff’s dorm was) but I never there were mixed sex roomies unless it involved someone who is trans-gendered and had done the “reassignment” surgery. The times are a changing as Bob Dylan once wrote.

Strange and small university. Your starting QB isn’t in a shared dorm room. Well, not at any university I know of. Starting QB? That’s an athletic scholarship. Even if a walk on earned the spot they would be give a scholarship. No way a university is going to risk losing a starting QB to another school

He’s either Stefani’s boyfriend, or Stefani is transgender.

For all we know this “quarterback” could identify as a woman and the college has regulations requiring that identification by an individual matters more than biology.

If the person at the door is female, she looks like KD Lang….

What? Is that the infamous quarterback, someone in the offices has do a huge mistake or Tiffany’s new roommate is a transgender (this would be awesome)? And if he’s the quarterback, what led him to looking for Tiffany? Do he just want to see her or is there something he want to say her?

Either this is Kip the QB or the chromosomally challenged roommate, Steffani, I postulated yesterday. But the Mooney U. letter jacket favors it being Kip.

AND Kip is here to meet up with his old high school sweetheart, you guessed it, Steffani.

I had a mixup in temporary Quarters in the AF once. Colonel I was with got his room and as a Captain, went to a different area. Layout was three bedrooms with a common living room and bath. OK. Opened a door and saw somebody had set up there (nobody there at time). Something seemed off but couldn’t peg it. Tired, so I shut the door and went to second room and before I could set my suitcase down, phone start ringing. There was a mixup. I had accidentally been sent to the female quarters!! Looking back I think I must have picked up on the first room having feminine stuff in it.

Poor Tiff. She’ll come dragging in from class one day and there will be a signal sock on the doorknob while Kip and Steffani “renew acquaintances.”

Are we setting up another Tiffany, Luann and Arron Hill situation here? Just what this strip needs… NOT!

This guy is only about two inches taller than Tiff. He’s not the quarterback; they have to be tall enough to see and throw over the linemen. If he’s on the American football team at all, he’s probably a kicker. More likely that he’s a soccer, baseball or lacrosse player.

Also, even if she hasn’t met him yet, surely Tiff knows what Kip looks like.

He might be after seeing his new roommate.

I guess I missed the part about the actual rooms being co-ed. I know there are co-ed dorms. But they often do not have the rooms themselves Co-ed.

Gotta love her confidence. Most people worry that their roommate will be a freak or incompatible before meeting. I know I sure got freaks when assigned by the college.

I switched rooms freshman year because my assigned roommate was a weight lifter taking steroids and was prone to roid rages. He threatened me because his girlfriend talked to me for a while when she stopped by the room when he wasn’t there. Accused me of trying steal her. Sophomore year I switched again because my roommate was stealing money from me.

If that’s her new roomie, suffice to say that things have changed a bit since I did the dorm thing……

Hoo boy, unless something different happens tomorrow this plot has been done many more times than my youngest daughter-now mid 30s- can count. she reads romance novels and tells me that a guy with same name as a girl becomes the college roomie has been done for years(her husbands name is Stacy, when she got engaged, everyone where she worked assumed that Stacy was a girl, not a guy)

I just don’t get ANY of the complaints people have made. These stories develop. What your initial “oh why doesn’t it go where I want it to go” response doesn’t get is that an early thread of story is going to either develop right away or later into something more. It’s part of the weave. And keep in mind that the strip is showing our characters growing up, becoming more adult, entering new phases in life. That’s just part of what the strip does. You’re lucky this strip is around, most daily strips with ongoing stories are amazingly uninteresting. This one is funny, quietly meaningful, and splendidly drawn. Consistently. I keep looking for good ones but the only other really good story oriented daily strips I see are Sally Forth and the Phantom. Mark Trail is kind of good. I read it, anyhow. Not very well written and they don’t do people well but still, Mark Trail is worthwhile…

I hope this is Stefani’s boyfriend because I can’t imagine a school f-ing up so bad that they set up a co-ed dorm room…

Moony’s mascot is the Mules? That’s cute, I like it. They exemplify stubbornness, as in “I stubbornly refuse to believe Tiffany will ever have any luck landing a boyfriend, because GE put a curse on her.”

This arc could really spin off in some very different directions!

Isn’t that sweet that Tiffany made a special sign for herself and Stefani? This kind of thing makes me really like her! Can’t wait to find out who this new character is tomorrow! I kind of hope it is Kip after all and not Stefani. I’ve been wanting to meet him for a while. And I hope he doesn’t fall for Stefani right away or do anything else to hurt Tiffany’s feelings. Maybe he’s just dropping by to meet the Suite Babe!

This almost happened to me in university. They accidently sent me the residence application for a young woman with the same last name as mine. I was about to fill out the application when I noticed it was addressed to Robin instead of Rob

That’s Kip the QB. And yes, she is gone, so gone.
