I feel sorry for the younger generations in England and the future they will. As always those who can adapt survive and those who cannot are easily exploited by the authoritarian charlatans, it seems.

I hate the result, but the British had terrible choices offered to them. Maybe something to ponder for the Democrats for 2020…

I hope Scotland gets another chance for an independence vote.

For some reason Boris has been pegged as some sort of UK equivalent of a far right wing nut in the US. He’s actually a moderate. He’s also quite smart. In idealogy he’s much more of a Churchill than a Thatcher. That being said, he’s 2 things that some people dislike. He’s a politician and he’s a bit if a weirdnik. He’s not a crass as Trump but he can be thin-skinned. And look at his stupid hair. Put some gel in that mop and use a comb, or something. You look like a loon.

Brexit is what the people voted for. This election was their opportunity to undo that binding vote by voting in a different weirdo. Weirdo #1 trounced weirdo #2, which in part indicates that opposition to Brexit isn’t as strong as some of you seem to think. I say “in part” because no election is decided on a single issue but it was far and away the biggest one. Don’t underestimate the voters…they are aware that Brexit is going to cause pain but enough of them are willing to endure that in the shorter term for what they believe is a better future for the UK.

The Official Monster Raving Loony Party is a political party established in the United Kingdom in 1983 by the musician David Sutch, also known as “Screaming Lord Sutch, 3rd Earl of Harrow”, or simply “Lord Sutch”. It is notable for its deliberately bizarre policies and it effectively exists to satirize British politics, and to offer itself as an alternative for protest voters, especially in constituencies where the party holding a safe seat is unlikely to lose it.

I like and have used that quote in the past. However, it’s the most overused and abused quote I can think of. It’s typically used to conflate something in the current that is unpleasant with something in the past that is horrific. It has become the go-to quote for the negative and pessimistic – the overreacting, glass-is-half-empty crowd.

I know my history quite well. You’ll have to do much better than a pithy quote to prove there is some correlation to what’s happening in the US and UK to whatever tragedy you have in mind that befell us in the past.
