    We could supply the world’s energy needs from now until eternity if we could only harness the power of Republican denial.

    Replace the elephant with a donkey, change the writing on Santa’s suit to “Clinton lost to Trump because of Russia” and the comments are just as apropos. What would be even more fitting would be for Hillary to be sitting on Santa’s lap.

    Toles’s ‘toons demonstrate the “left-liberal satire” which contends with “right-wing outrage”. – “ … [Satire is] a kind of rhetoric that is playful and meant to induce laughter, but it aims at a target and it issues a judgment. That judgment tends to be not just at institutions, people or policies, but also at the society that has given rise to those.” – “… [Outrage on the right is] specifically reacting to changes they don’t like, they feel threatened by, ….” – Here’s a very smart article about this decades-long tension of lefty-vs-righty mindsets {which I myself have noticed since the mid-‘50s}:

    https://www.alternet.org/2019/12/how-different-are-sean-hannity-and-samantha-bee-a-media-scholar-explains-how-right-wing-outrage-and-left-liberal-satire-have-reshaped-our-world/

    Huzzah for Satirical Irony – {rhyme}

    Satirical irony has come of age

    and it trumps the explosive rightwing’s rampage

    as the better in terms of perspicacity; -’- of sagacity rather than the rightwing’s pugnacity

    and the audacity of the rightwing’s dissembling mendacity.

    @GreggW Wow! Despite all evidence, you choose to believe the point of view that is entirely contrary to, and unsupported by— the FACTS! Thanks for the real life demonstration of the cartoon’s point!

    The less you know!…

    From the CSOonline article “CrowdStrike, Ukraine and the DNC server” by Cynthia Brumfield

    Chris Vickery, director of cyber risk research at Upguard: “Every US intelligence agency has concluded that the GRU conducted, and is still conducting, a prolonged assault on the integrity and process of US elections. That’s a fact”

    The whole baseless conspiracy theory was pushed by Russian operatives in “Russia Today” and “Sputnik News” and popped up in the alt right streams of 4chan and reddit and then taken up by the President of the United States and the GOP defenders like Senator John Kennedy and Ted Cruz.

    I doubt that there has been such a successful disinformation campaign by Russia against the United States since Operation Fortitude in World War 2 by the Allies against Germany.

    It’s frightening that there is no trustworthy news source that everyone can rely on and that conspiracy theories are actually being mistaken for news. News should not be entertainment show or have a bias. How are we going to fix this?

    Conspiculously missing this year from the White House Christmas music playlist is “Carol of the Bells,” the well-known modern arrangement of a traditional Ukrainian carol. (Mykola Leontovich, 1877 – 1921)

    Other holiday music is still played, but with appropriate substituted words, such as:

    Good King Wenceslas is now “Good King Donald Trump”.

    Go Tell It on the Mountain is now “Go Tweet It on the Mountain”.

    O Come All Ye Faithful (Adeste Fideles) is now “O Come Vote All Ye Faithful (Adeste Censere Senatus Fideles”)… (Yes, I know it’s bad Latin)

    All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth is now “All I Want for Christmas is Not to Be Impeached”.

    Elephant Poop – {a rhyme}

    Much like a Bull’s is these Elephants’ poop

    which plops from the con-artist Trumpite troupe

    as our nation these deceivers hoodwink and dupe.

    Their stanky doo-doo is deep and thick

    and so putrid it makes us pukey and sick.

    Let’s flush their poop [tout de suite] toot sweet and quick.

    Gregw is a perfect example of a cult member. Sees what he wants to see. Willfully ignorant of the facts. Has delusional ideas about his psychopathic malignant narcissist cult leader. Believes the lies and tripe served up by other cult members.

    When you’re on the inside of a cult, nothing else matters except fealty to the cult and its leader. Willfull blindness and ignorance not because Gregw wants to be ignorant, but because at this point, he has no choice in the matter. Being part of the cult makes him feel special. Believing the cultish nonsense makes him part of the cultish tribe.

    Let’s hate them libs. Let’s protect our cult leader. Sure, he’s crude and nasty, but the cult members love crude and nasty. Yes he lies 1,000 times more than any politician in US history, but, hey, they all lie. Yes, he’s acquiesced to Russian interference in our election, but, hey, the Russians are not so bad, they seem to like our cult leader. Yes, everything he does injures to Putin’s benefit, but hey, Putin’s a good guy, like our fearful cult leader, right? Those damned elites with education. Fancy pants globalists with all their nasty ideas of integrity, honesty, and tolerance. Why, it’s way better to insult and bully others the way our fearful cult leader does it. Those libs. Socialists all. Can you believe they want to remove our fearful cult leader? And for what? Bribing a foreign government to help his political campaign. Nothing wrong with that. They all do it. Hey, then there’s Hillary. The libs can’t get over our glorious cult’s electoral college victory. Sour grapes, that’s all the libs have. Yeah, and there’s no fraud in the cult leader’s “charity.” No felonies in hush money to mistresses and porn actresses. No felonious obstruction of justice. And the tax return issue is just more nonsense from those libs who never got over the fact that their beloved Hillary won the popular vote by three million votes, but we won the electoral college by 70,000 votes. Etc….

    I really should’ve replied to GreggW’s nonsense in a separate post, instead of replying to him/her/it, and therefore I have reformed, and here it is: Wow, so much imbecility to unpack and so little time to do it……It is a FACT that Putin was against Clinton (she kinda pointed out that he’s an evil dictator and war criminal, you see), and it is a FACT that Trump was (and currently is) viewed as a useful idiot by the aforementioned evil dictator and war criminal. And it is also a fact (even you might see where I’m going with this) that Russia labored mightily on Trump’s behalf in the 2016 election. And, of course, Clinton campaigned incompetently and took for granted things she never should’ve took for granted. Also, the low voter turnout (with a high percentage of low-educated voters) played a factor……..

    Bad King Donald Trump looked out

    On the Feast of Putin

    Trump’s crimes had all been laid out

    The treason and the lootin’

    Bad King Trump was heard to say

    (Whispering to Putin}

    “Could you please my problems solve

    With a little shoo-oo-tin’?"

    Putin said, "Don’t bug me now

    Not upon my feast day

    Thanks to you, you bloated cow

    I now own the USA

    But your usefulness to me

    (You idiot)

    Is ended

    Time to give Mike Pence his chance

    Christ and treason blen-en-ded!
