I’d be astonished if Bok really thought this!

Honestly, it does seem like a weird conflict of interest for a newspaper’s patron to be running for office.

You won’t hear it from Bok, but he is a menace. He’s also at least trying to be a traitor, and has indulged in endless violations of the emoluments clause. Not to mention damaging our reputation, working hard to hurt the entire ecosphere in return for very short term very small profits for his petro-buddies and cause division among the electors. (But “there are good people on both sides.”)

The point here is that Bloomberg News is abandoning even the public claim of being neutral and unbiased in its reporting. It is always alarming to see people accept the unacceptable provided it serves their own purpose.

Yes, I realize some of you feel that way about Trump but that is no reason to abandon the standard all journalists are supposed to follow.

If Bloomberg really believes Trump is a menace, the best thing he could do is to let everyone know that he will pay financial penalties and legal expenses for violation of NDAs with Trump — maybe with a bonus, depending on the effect.

    .

If nothing else, it would scare the hell out of Trump and most of His Disciples, especially those benefiting from those NDAs.

And it would result in yet another battalion or six of lawyers demanding that financial penalties are not sufficient.
