Weird. In real life I saw a hornets’ nest coming out of a hole in the ground right under the main path to a beach. Nobody seemed to notice and just kept walking over it.

Yellow jackets around here have nests below the ground. The only way you can see them is the wasps coming in and out of the ground. The wasp nests like Horace hits are all in trees and house eaves.

We had a wasp’s nest in our lawn several years ago and I accidentally ran over it with the riding mower. I didn’t know it was there so was unaware of the carnage I left behind. When I drove around to the site again I was chased by a couple of wasps, one of which stung me on the neck. When I realized what I’d done I decided I’d gotten off lucky!

Do you have honey buzzards there in US? If you ever see that creature dug its head under ground into a wasp’s ground nest, it sure looks peculiar.
