Religious ads are rightfully banned in houses of government. If churches want to ban political ads, that would have to be up to the church.

Churches and their CEOs, er, that is, their priests, pastors, and bishops, are almost all driven by money, and politically active anyway. Tax ‘em, like all the other businesses.
