It is not a matter of letting the voters decide, when the crime Trump is being impeached with is based on his efforts to rig the next election to illegally FIBricate made-up “dirt” on a political adversary illegally using help he extorted from a foreign government.
I understand the sentiment of not wanting to overturn an “election” (which Republicans actually stole with Russian interference, Comey tipping the scale for Trump and massive voter suppression), but the voters will not be able to decide if Trump undermines our ability to conduct a free and fair election.
Because it is the coming election that he is trying to sabotage, Trump MUST be removed from his position of being able to achieve his criminal schemes of electoral sabotage.
We can’t wait for the 2020 election because THAT is the very thing Trump is trying to manipulate.
It would be like accusing someone of cheating at Monopoly and he suggests settling it by … playing a game of Monopoly.
In any case, Democrats also note that, regarding overturning an election, vice-president Pence was simultaneously “elected” along with Trump, to an office the sole substantive duty of which is to take over — as the alternative backup who was specifically also ELECTED — if Trump cannot complete his term; Democrats further note that we can’t wait to replace Trump in the 2020 election when the high crime he is being charged with involves cheating to steal the 2020 election.
Impeach, let the Senate refuse to convict and hold the general election. Some of the 43% above will be voting blue, and I hope some of them are in the swing states that elected Tiny.
The media moguls, financiers et al, who purchased and centralized all the major news outlets, and who used their wealth and influence to get Buttercup into office, will not allow him to be impeached and will reduce the efforts to censor him to mere quibbling. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Si tragique.
Too late for letting the voters decide. They already decided Hillary Clinton is President. Trump and those elected officials who continue to support his being selected to be President need to be removed. Now.
Jeff, buddy, it isn’t up to the voters. It never has been. It probably never will be. It is up to the Electoral College. We all know that. Just as we all know that the Two-Party System is rigged.
The House needs to do its constitutional duty and impeach. The voters need to do theirs in 2020 and turn out the party valuing power over law, the Republicans.
If the House does not impeach; if the Senate does not convict; then Congress will be telling America that it is, indeed, proper for ANY political candidate to solicit help from a foreign power.
I suspect it hasn’t dawned on republicans that allowing Trump to get away with soliciting foreign aid in the election is also permitting Biden, Warren, Harris, Buttigieg, et. al. to go to China, Turkey, Indonesia (anywhere Trump has property) and solicit dirt on Trump with the full “permission” of Congressional republicans.
Now, I’m NOT saying they won’t whine and complain when a democrat does what Trump has done – of COURSE they will! What I’m saying is that they won’t be able to DO anything OTHER than whine and complain!
Understand this – the republicans – through Trump – have ALREADY destroyed the old concept of what America stands for!
If democrats don’t acknowledge that and fight on their level, republicans will continue to win, time after time! You can’t win by continuing to carry a book to a knife fight – You can only continue to shake your finger and say, “Rule of Law”, until the “shiv” is buried in your chest.
