Unfortunately the methods recommended by security experts have been ignored by the left since Columbine. The professionals have called for hardening the schools, adding armed guards and enforcing “closed” campus methods for more than 20 years.
Folks who prefer gun control have gone to great lengths to block these measures, instead focusing on useless bans and restrictions. They are willing to pay for metal detectors and armed security at the Capitol building but refuse to do the same for our kids.
Andylit posts “…The professionals have called for hardening the schools, adding armed guards and enforcing “closed” campus methods for more than 20 years…” and, of course, Andy posits that it all the Left’s fault because none of those things have been done.
That’s a “cop out” on the part of the Right because NOT ONCE have they advanced any way that those “security” features could be financed – we’re talking trillions upon trillions of dollars, and that’s AFTER the thousands of school districts agreed to spend the money needed for the plan to work!
It is not useful for anything other than as a “talking point” with which to cudgel the Left over the head. It’s usefulness is somewhat beyond training pigs to fly and using unicorns as sources of viable transportation!
I will stipulate that IF you are significantly naive and uneducated in the way the world works, and IF you have absolutely NO CLUE about how the American educational system is both financed and controlled – then the argument concerning hardening the schools, adding armed guards and enforcing “closed” campus methods MIGHT make a certain sense to you – as long as you don’t examine how it could be implemented, too closely!

“Impeachment is distracting us from background check legislation”
And here I thought it was distracting us from the promotion of Trump Junior’s book.
The University of Florida’s student body president paid $50 thousand dollars of student funds for young Donald to advertise his book on campus?

The GOP is infinitely distractable when there’s something they want to ignore.
