and they are rats, the Republicans. Through the annals of our history, infamy and dishonor will be theirs. As if we’ll even have a history as the good nation we were once, thanks to their venal acts against America.
It isn’t a matter of whether they are rats or not. The issue is do they want to be reelected or not. As evidence becomes public, they will reflect the opinions of their voters. As soon as the public opinion of the people who keep them in office shifts into negative numbers on Trump, they will be jumping overboard. To believe that they will jump ship simply because it is corrupt and requires putting loyalty to Trump above loyalty to our country is giving them way too much credit. They would rather be reelected drowned rats than out of a job.
Conservative pundit (and evangelical Christian) Michael Gerson, about Nikki Haley specifically but in general about Trump lackeys AND Trump voters: “…if you are a national security official working for a malignant, infantile, impulsive, authoritarian wannabe, you need to stay in your job as long as you can to mitigate whatever damage you can, before the mad king tires of your sanity and fires you. […] On the whole, I’m glad that responsible officials such as Kelly and Mattis stayed as long as they did to prevent damage to the country. But I also think they have a moral obligation to come out before the 2020 election and say what they know about Trump’s unfitness. Saving the country requires no less.”
As I contemplate the inevitable demise of the Republican party I am reminded of the Graf Hindenburg, that giant bloated gas bag filled with Nazis and Nazi-wannabees. . .
As the Hindenburg went down in flames, and people could be seen jumping off and falling to their deaths, the commentator wailed, “Oh, the humanity!”
When the GOP fails in it’s bid to CONTROL every aspect of our lives, I rather think the commentator would say, “Oh, the bigotry!” and, “Oh, the arrogance!” and most assuredly, “What IS that smell?”
Haha Haha Haha… do they really believe that they can escape from the stench that they helped pour over this country through their aiding and abetting of this criminal Administration?

Who wouldn’t? Even their families have to be better than where they’ve been working.

In this case, the iceberg is Trump’s ego.

I just hope they fail to find a “lifeboat”. They deserve to “go down with the ship”!

The podium rats will be the ones getting book deals. The slow to leave rats will get locked up.

I wonder if their families want to spend more time with them.

Their jumping ship has more to do with their belief that there’s no chance for their re-election than time with family.

So long ago, I can’t even remember who was described as leaving GWB’s administration “to spend more time lying to his family.”
