Wow — 100+ year old whale! I wonder if the blubber was still good, and if they found any ambergris?

The Tomatan was created to feed tomatoes to runners in the marathon, not sprints. Sprinters don’t have time to eat.

Ok, I’ll take the bait. WHY is there a robot that feeds tomatoes, of all things, to runners?

Feeding tomatoes during SPRINTS? Search me, during a sprint one concentrates to move his legs as fast as one can, not holding a robot ?

That’s ridiculous. All that weight of the robot would slow em down.

Isidor “Izzy” Einstein (1880–1938) and Moe W. Smith (1887–1960) were United States federal police officers, agents of the U.S. Prohibition Unit, who achieved the most arrests and convictions during the first years of the alcohol prohibition era (1920–1925). They were known nationally for successfully exploding illegal speakeasies and for using disguises in their work.

They made 4,932 arrests. In late 1925, Izzy and Moe were laid off in a reorganization of the bureau of enforcement. A report in Time magazine suggested they had attracted more publicity than wanted by the new political appointee heading the bureau, although the press and public loved the team. By 1930 both men were working as insurance salesmen. From Wikipedia and “Yowza, Yowza, Yowza”. An informal history of the USA during the 1920s by Kenneth R Bruce.

I’m glad the Japanese have solved the conundrum of feeding runners during sprints! I never thought the problem would be ever solved!

Here’s a little one. Izzy may not be related to Albert Einstein, but his name is short for Isidora, and he was only about 58 when he passed away. May he rest in peace.

Did Izzy use his talents to make arrests or to satisfy his personal needs, and who the hell eats tomatoes while sprinting. Maybe a long distance event, but never a sprint.

A sprint is a short, fast run. Who has time to eat a tomato? Doesn’t the weight of a robot on your back negate any benefit from tomato consumption? Do tomatoes make you run fast? I have so many questions. Japan, are you just screwing with us now?

Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith were two of the greatest Prohibition agents ever. And they deserve to be better remembered than they are.

And they were played by Jackie Gleason and Art Carney in a TV movie.
